Frequently Asked Questions about Pet Cremation

Many pet owners choosing cremation have questions. These are some of the most common...

1) How do I know I'm getting my pet's cremated remains
back and not someone else's?

Chippewa Valley Cremation Services uses a unique identification system which involves a crematory proof, metal tag with a unique identification number. This is shown to families at the time we take possession of their beloved pet. It then follows their pet through the cremation process. The tag remains in the chamber with their pet during the cremation process. The tag is affixed to the cremated remains upon removal from the crematory. When using Chippewa Valley Cremation Services, you can have 100% confidence that your pet is being cared for like it was a member of our own family.

2) What happens if my pet dies at home. Who do I call?

In the event of a home death, simply call (715) 835-3333. Our phones are answered 24 hours a day. In the event of a death during non business hours we will come directly to your home or vet's office and bring your pet into our care. Chippewa Valley Cremation Services will come to your home and pick up your deceased pet and have cremated according to your wishes. We will call you as soon as your pet's cremated remains are ready to be picked up or we can deliver them to your home. (An extra charge may apply for home delivery.)

3) We are having our pet euthanized at our local vet hospital. Then what?

Instruct your veterinarian to call Chippewa Valley Pet Cremation Services. We will transport your pet from the hospital and arrange the cremation for you. If you choose, you can personally bring your pet to our facility as well. Simply call (715) 835-3333 to make an appointment. You can have peace of mind knowing that your pet is being cared for by a licensed funeral director. We will call you as soon as your pet's cremated remains are ready to be picked up or we can deliver them to your home. (An extra charge may apply for home delivery.)

4) Can you take my pet to my veterinarian to have it euthanized?

Yes. We realize putting your beloved pets to sleep is one of the hardest things a person may have to do. We want to do all we can to help you through this difficult time. Simply call Chippewa Valley Cremation Services at (715) 835-3333 and we will come to your home and accompany your pet to your veterinarian to be euthanized. Following euthanization, your veterinarian will release your pet once again into our care. Please note there is an additional charge of $100 for this service. We will call you as soon as your pet's cremated remains are ready to be picked up or we can deliver them to your home. (An extra charge may apply for home delivery.)

5) About how long will the cremation take?

We ask that families allow four to seven days from the day of death for the return of cremated remains. If you would like more in-depth information about the process, please call us anytime at (715) 835-3333.

6) Do I need to purchase an urn?
